2024-2025 Beginning Hockey Schedule

Maine Evolution is proud to offer Beginning Hockey Programs.

This level is dedicated to introduce players to learning the game of hockey skating proficiency and skill development.

Summer Learn to Play (July-Aug) is designed for kids to learn the fundamentals of hockey.  We want kids to be excited about being on the ice while learning valuable skills to move into one of our beginning hockey programs such as: 6U, 8U or Initiation. 

Learn to Skate (Sept-Oct) Kids can utilize learn to skate and then enter into Bruins Academy and or Break the Ice.  Kids need to be able to stand and skate unassisted for these other programs.  

Bruins Academy (October)  The Boston Bruins are thrilled to share their passion for hockey with the next generation of hockey players. There are 4 on ice sessions and space is limited to the first 50 registrants.  The program is intended for children 5-9 who have not participated in organized hockey.  Children who have been registered with USA hockey or Bruins Academy Learn To Play previously are not eligible to participate.

Break the ICE (November-January) is for athletes that are interested in trying hockey but aren't sure if they are going to love it to continue the full season. This is a 10 sessions program with a tuition of $100 to first time skaters only who have not participated in any previous program with Maine Evolution.  Those that have participated in a previous Maine Evolution  Break the Ice program would need to register in our 6U or Initiation program.

Winter Break the Ice (Feb-March) is designed for kids to learn the fundamentals of hockey.  We want kids to be excited about being on the ice and playing hockey. ($75)

BTI Players will have the opportunity to transfer into the 6U or Initiation season when Break the Ice ends. (Tuition is pro-rated- "Upgrade")

6U: (November-February) Players 6 and younger division that want to play a full season. There are two practices a week and occasional half ice games with other organizations and a tournament.  Tuition $425 

Initiation: (November-February) Players 7 years old or older that would like to start to play hockey are required to go through our beginning hockey program called Initiation, before being able to play on an official team which provides a season of instructional hockey. The goal is for these players to get them skating at the level of their peers by the end of the season. Tuition $425

The fees listed do not include the USA Hockey fee ($45) or the MEAHA fee ($12). When you register on line you will directed to pay the USA Hockey and MEAHA fee directly and forward the USAH registration along with your tuition.  Please visit the registration tab for your Beginning Hockey Registration Form. 

USA Hockey Requirement

Each Player must register first with USA Hockey and then return to this Registration Session to signup for the 2023-2024 Season.

  • Step 1:  CLICK HERE to go to USA Hockey Registration and register your player(s). Be sure to PRINT and SAVE their confirmation code(s). Remember to register EACH of your players with USA Hockey. Each player must have their own unique USA Hockey confirmation number.
  • Step 2:  Return to this registration and proceed. Later in this registration session you will need to enter the USA Hockey Confirmation Code that you received in Step 1

•Personal Protection Shorts (Jock or Jill)
•Helmet
•Mouth Guard
•Skates (make sure they have been sharpened)
•Stick
 
Loaner gear may be available for the following"
•Leg Pads - Shin and Knee
•Hockey Pants (suspenders if needed)
•Chest Protector
•Elbow Pads
•Gloves

Beginning Hockey Director
